Charu Mujumdar : -
He was born in 1918 in Siliguri, West Bengal. He faced many difficulties in his life. He was the leader of the Indian National Congress in his early life and at the same time he did the work of connecting people but he also connected many workers. For some reason he decided to leave the Indian National Congress and work with the Communist Party of India. Whether it was the farmers 'movement or the workers' movement, Charu Mujumdar used to take part in the movement, for which he had to undergo imprisonment.
He never looked back because of the popularity he was getting among the workers. Inspired by the fact that the movement he started was gaining popularity and success, he started an armed movement against the government to get his demands accepted.
Charu Mujumdar formed an armed force with like-minded people. In 1967, Charu Mujumdar started the armed revolution from the village of Naxalwadi in West Bengal with Kanu Sanyal as his companion. This armed revolution was called Naxalism.
The police did not want to know his whereabouts, so they had a number of hideouts, but in July 1972, Charu Mujumdar was arrested at his hideout. Within a few days, on July 28, 1972, he died in prison.
After the death of Charu Mujumdar, his movement was divided into several sections. And the consequences of that movement are being felt by the citizens of Naxal areas in many states.
